Make a Gallery with Jordan

Image
In this post, we're going to make our very own galleries at home with the help of our friend Jordan. Hey everyone! Jordan here, I created my gallery with my daughter Ivy and based it around one of Aspex's previous exhibitions Daphne . You will need: - A box - Paper - Scissors - Pens or pencils - Glue - And things to decorate      A box is great to make your gallery in, but get creative and use what you can  from around the house! With the help of an adult, cut your box so you're able to open it out, like a nice big gallery space.  Use glue and paper to give your space some colour. Next is the really fun bit, draw some mini artworks and stick them to the walls of your gallery. You can come up with your own pieces of artwork or make smaller versions of someone else's!  An exhibition is created by an artist. Who is the artist in your gallery? In mine it's Sarah Taylor Silverwood - I've recreated her real work from Aspex! Share your artwork wit

Shadow Puppets

Image
In this post, we're going to be looking at and making some Shadow Puppets! You will need: - Thick card/paper, dark if possible      - Scissors      - Torch      - Tape      - Stick      - Pencil Draw whatever character you choose on your paper. If you have black paper, use a white pencil for a nice contrast! Next, carefully cut out your creation. Be sure to get an adult to help with this. Then you can attach a stick to the back with tape and your puppet is complete!                  Use your torch to shine it at your puppet and watch its shadow emerges!  If you don’t have a torch, find a nice patch of sunlight to create your shadows in the garden or through a window. Salt Dough

Image
In this post, we're making some salt dough creations, inspired by ceramicist Kitty Hall! You will need: - 250g flour - 125g salt - 125ml water - A bowl to mix - And some fun materials to make textures Kitty uses waste materials to achieve her interesting textures, have a go and see what you can do with items you find around your home. In a bowl m ix the ingredients into a ball, and knead into a stretchy consistency. Flour the table & start to play! If you don’t have the ingredients for salt dough, you can use clay, play dough or even sticky tack! Try not to make the sides too thin or they might break!
