Make a Gallery with Jordan



In this post, we're going to make our very own galleries at home with the help of our friend Jordan.


Hey everyone! Jordan here, I created my gallery with my daughter Ivy and based it around one of Aspex's previous exhibitions Daphne.

You will need:
- A box
- Paper
- Scissors
- Pens or pencils
- Glue
- And things to decorate

    

A box is great to make your gallery in, but get creative and use what you can from around the house!

With the help of an adult, cut your box so you're able to open it out, like a nice big gallery space. 



Use glue and paper to give your space some colour.

Next is the really fun bit, draw some mini artworks and stick them to the walls of your gallery. You can come up with your own pieces of artwork or make smaller versions of someone else's! 

An exhibition is created by an artist. Who is the artist in your gallery? In mine it's Sarah Taylor Silverwood - I've recreated her real work from Aspex!

Paper Pulp Dinosaur Chimeras

  Hello and welcome to our last Family Saturdays at Home. Today we’re going to be making a paper pulp mixture and using it to sculpt dinosaur chimeras. You will need: - Shredded paper - Salt - Flour - A kettle - A hand blender If you don’t have a hand blender it might be a good idea to repeat the paper soaking process over a couple of days.  You can use torn up newspaper if you don’t have shredded paper. To make your paper pulp get a grown-up to cover the paper shreddings with boiling water and leave it overnight. After leaving it to soak for 24 hrs use the hand blender to break it up into a pulp. Make sure to get a grown-up to help you with this bit. Next, squeeze out all the liquid from your pulp so that it looks like this and add flour until you get a mouldable dough consistency. Design your dino chimera from parts of other dinosaurs. Lay out your mixture and then start to sculpt, just like clay! Leave to dry - I put cardboard under the bits that needed support and added cereal box

Momentary Sculptures with Abi

Hello, I ’ m Abi and welcome to Aspex at Home! In this post, we’re creating momentary sculptures inspired by Peter Fischli and David Weiss. I hope you have lots of fun, and remember to try lots of different objects! You’ll need to collect some interesting objects from around the house, or you could try to find some on a walk to make nature-themed sculptures. Try out how different objects look together!     Place your objects in interesting ways and balance them - quickly snap a photo before they fall! Time Capsules

Hi everyone! The theme of this post is connecting across generations, so we're going to be making time capsules!  A time capsule is a container storing a selection of objects that commemorate the current time, to be put away and discovered in the future. The idea with ours is to create a time capsule about our life as it is at the moment, and to hide it away for a really long time until we've grown up and can show future generations the treasures inside!
